When I was in high school, an adult who took an interest in my college-application process said, "But don't go to a women's college, because college is where you make connections to find a husband." I was interested in academics and (secretly) girls and happily attended a women's college. What's ironic 35 years later is that I ended up partnered with a classmate and, after the laws changed, we did get married. so ha! College got me married after all. (HH)
